420 hp for 6.2-leader Denali

General Motors unveiled the Denali version of its redesigned 2014 GMC Sierra and said the pickup's 6.2-liter V-8 will produce more horsepower and torque than the truck it replaces -- or any light-duty truck on the market.

GM said its 6.2-liter, which will do service in the Denali as well as other Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado models, will produce an estimated 420 hp and 450 pounds-feet of torque. That's up from 403 hp and 417 pounds-feet in the 2013 models.

GM had not previously disclosed estimated power figures for the 6.2-liter engine, the largest of three new engines that will be used in the redesigned 2014 Sierra and Silverado 1500s.

Both redesigned pickups are scheduled to arrive in showrooms this month with 5.3-liter crew cab models. Other models, including pickups with the 6.2-liter and a 4.3-liter V-6, will roll out by fall.
